Dr. Martin Godoy - Flute

Mr. Godoy holds a Bachelor of Music (Education) and Master of Music in Flute Performance from UT Arlington and a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas.
He is the first-prize winner of the Myrna Brown Flute Competition (2018) and first prize winner of the Maverick Solo Flute Competition (2019), and a winner in the UNT Concerto Competition (2018). He received second-prize for the Mid-South Young Artist (2018), Mid-Atlantic Young Artist (2018), and Flutissimo Young Artist Competitions (2016). He also participated in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition (2017) and the Byron Hester Competition (2018 and the Ernest Bloch International Music Competition.
His principal teachers include Dr. James Scott, Terri Sundberg, Dr. Elizabeth McNutt, and Dr. Sarah Frisof. Martin has had the privilege of performing with ensembles such as the Las Colinas Symphony and the Dallas Winds. Martin is currently pursuing his DMA at the University of North Texas and formerly served as a Teaching Fellow. He participates in the UNT Symphony Orchestra and the UNT Opera Orchestra. He has had the honor of premiering a number new chamber works with the Nova New Music Ensemble. He spent a summer at the Domaine Forget International Dance and Music Academy where he studied with Susan Hoepnner and was selected as a performer in the Gala Concert and for the public master class taught by renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud. Other noted flutists Martin has performed for include Leone Buyse, Bonita Boyd, Amy Porter, Trevor Wye, Jean Ferrandis, and Lorna McGhee. In addition to his studies and activities in music, he also teaches color guard at Colleyville-Heritage High School.

Kristen Beene - Oboe

Kristen Lindenberger Beene is happy to be back in her home state after over thirty years of enjoying an active career in music and raising her children. As a three time All State Oboist and Graduate from MacArthur HS in Irving, TX, she went on to Graduate from Baylor University with Bachelor Degrees in both Music Performance and Music Education. While pursuing a Master’s degree in Music at SMU, Ms Beene performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Ballet Orchestra and many local groups, as well as teaching 45 oboe students each week. As her life expanded, she left Texas, beginning with a 6 year position in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, then 3 years with the Lansing Symphony in Michigan, 17 years with the Toledo Symphony orchestra, 6 Years as Principal Oboist of the Ann Arbor Symphony and ending with her favorite position of all, Principal Oboe of the Michigan Opera Theater for 10 years. In addition, she played often with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit chamber Winds as well as many exciting performances with amazing musician friends along the way.

Ross Duncan - Bassoon
| (979) 200-0149Dr. Ross Duncan is a professional bassoonist and educator currently based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. While pursuing his studies, Ross has had the pleasure of playing with a variety of orchestras and chamber groups in the United States and Canada, including the Sheboygan Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, the Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, the Scarborough Philharmonic and the Chinese Artist Society of Toronto, and the Perrysburg Symphony. Ross received his D.M.A. and M.M. from the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he received the prestigious Paul Collins Fellowship (DMA), as well as a graduate assistantship (M.M.). In addition he holds an Artist Diploma from The Glenn Gould School in Toronto, Canada, and a B.A. in German from Bowling Green State University. His teachers include Marc Vallon, Fraser Jackson, Dr. Nathaniel Zeisler and William Lewis.
Corey Parks - Clarinet
| (817) 996-4640Corey Parks was a public school band director for the 16 years. He is now a business owner designing marching band drill and consulting with marching bands across the state. He continues to teach as a private lesson instructor in the DFW metroplex.
As a band director, Mr. Parks was the Director of Bands at Cross Timbers Middle School in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Before then, he was an assistant band director in Highland Park ISD, working both at the middle school and high school for 11 years. He was also an assistant director at Forestwood Middle School in Lewisville ISD. He has taught at many educational levels including 5th grade elementary music, beginner woodwind classes, non-varsity middle school and high school bands, jazz bands, and high school marching bands.
Mr. Parks was also a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra for several years, playing at many concerts and venues across the state.

Donicio Trujillo - Saxophone

Donicio Trujillo is a freelance saxophonist and educator currently based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Donicio moved to Denton, TX in 2020 after graduating from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Music in Education degree.
During his time at the University of Wyoming, Donicio was a member of the Wyoming Jazz Ensemble and had the opportunity to perform at Dizzys Club Coca Cola, and the Jazz Education Network Conference in Reno, Nevada. In addition to playing alongside trumpeter Terrell Stafford in New York City, Donicio has given masterclass performances for Greg Osby, Idit Shner, and Pete Zimmer. He can be heard on the Wyoming Jazz Ensembles first commercially recorded album, Winds of the Snowys. Donicio also performed regularly with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, and held the tenor chair in the Wind Symphony for four years. While attending school he studied with Dr. Scott Turpen and Dr. Ben Markley.
Donicio enjoys teaching privately and is the current saxophone instructor in Grapevine-Colleyville, Celina, and Gunter Independent School Districts. He is also actively involved in the North Texas music scene working with a variety of artists and cover band companies. He currently plays lead alto with the Pecos River Brass Band, and performs regularly with Isaac Sloane and the Sound Brigade, and the Whitney Center Jazz Orchestra out of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Dr. Orlando Ruiz - Trumpet

As a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Orlando Ruiz has performed with the island's top musical ensembles like the Puerto Rico Symphony, Arturo Somohano Philharmonic, and Bayamon Symphony Orchestras. Dr. Ruiz made his solo debut at age 13, performing a Leeroy Anderson's A Trumpeter's Lullaby at the Caribe Hilton Hotel and Casino. Four years later, Dr. Ruiz was accepted by early admission at the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico, where he pursued his undergraduate studies. While studying at the Conservatory, Dr. Ruiz was the trumpeter for the Sunday T.V. program "Accion de Pura Sangre"; from Camarero Horse track racing. Furthermore, he was freelancing in various musical projects like the soundtracks of "Seva Vive" by Angelica Negron and "El Clown" by Omar Silva while becoming the first trumpeter to complete the Performance Diploma at the Conservatory with Roberto Ramirez as his mentor.
In 2007 Orlando went pursuing his master's degree with Prof. Stephen Leisring at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where he performed as principal trumpet of the K.U. Symphony Orchestra and assistant principal of the K.U. Wind Ensemble. While in Lawrence, he played in numerous concerts and projects, including a tour in China and recording for Scott Watson's "Thoughts of a Cow" with the K.U. Trumpet Ensemble. Orlando Also recorded with the K.U. Wind Ensemble "Wild Nights" featuring works by Frank Ticheli, David Dzubay, Steven Bryant, Roshanne Etezady, and John Mackey. Dr. Ruiz also premiered "Songs of Aeolus" trio for trumpet, bassoon, and piano by Joe Eidson for the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) composer's competition.
After concluding his studies in K.U. he put into practice the pedagogical concepts acquired overtime as founding trumpet teacher at the system of youth orchestras of Puerto Rico, where he taught trumpet and served as orchestra and wind ensemble conductor for three years. After those years, he went to work for Houston I.S.D. as band and orchestra conductor, where 14 of his students previously rejected on Houston's All-City Youth Band made the ensemble under his advice. During that time in Houston, Orlando performed with the Houston Heights Orchestra, the Galveston Symphony, the Houston Brass Quintet. He served as principal trumpet of the Houston Sinfonietta, where he performed as soloist Alexander Arutunian's Trumpet Concerto. In 2015 Orlando became a trumpet teacher assistant at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he taught trumpet lessons and taught advanced trumpet techniques to future band directors. While in Lubbock, Orlando performed with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and their Educational brass quintet and the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale. Orlando graduated from Texas Tech as a Doctor of Musical Arts in 2020, where he published: An Analysis of Roberto Sierra's Rapsodia for Solo Trumpet and Wind Ensemble. In this publication, Dr. Ruiz explored the piece's origin through interviews and post-tonal theory analysis techniques.
Currently, Dr. Ruiz teaches trumpet and is an active freelancer in Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area.

Teresa Francis - Horn

Teresa K. Francis is retired from middle school band directing after 28 years of service. Her latest position was as assistant band director in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District where she taught for 8 years. She is now teaching privately in several local school districts and an active performer on her instrument. She is a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
As a performing musician, Mrs. Francis has performed in numerous professional orchestras including the Symphony of Southeast Texas and the Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with the Greater Fort Worth Community Band at the Eisemann Performance Center at the Association of Concert Bands National Convention, served as principal horn with the Texas Lone Star Community Band on tours of Australia, Italy, France and England. She is currently a member of the orchestra at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas. She is in demand as a clinician, horn specialist and adjudicator.

Mr.Grimes is a low brass private instructor for GCISD. He holds a bachelor's degree in Music Performance from TCU and a Master's in Music from Carnegie Mellon University. Mr.Grimes is also a published author in Music and Medicine for his research role in the article titled "Music Intervention Pilot Study: Assessing Teaching Methods of Group Marimba Classes Designed to Train Spatial Skills of Older Adults with Changes in Cognition". Outside of music, Mr.Grimes loves to play golf, video games and is an avid DFW sports fan!

Jacob Muzquiz is currently a freelance musician and teacher in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Jacob completed his Bachelor of Music Degree at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he was a student of Jimmy Clark, (Principal Trombone, Dallas Opera) and Chris Oliver (Second/Associate Principal Trombone, Dallas Symphony Orchestra). Jacob went on to complete his Master's degree and Performance Diploma at Southern Methodist University, studying under John Kitzman (Retired, Principal Trombone, Dallas Symphony Orchestra) and Barry Hearn (Principal Trombone, Dallas Symphony Orchestra).
Jacob currently holds the position of Second Trombone with the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performs regularly with professional ensembles in the Southwest region. Ensembles he has performed with include the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Winds, and Southeast Arkansas Symphony.

Mark Finley - Euphonium, Tuba

Mark Finley has been teaching Tuba and Euphonium private lessons continuously since 1987. In this time he has guided many students all the way to the All-State level, and especially enjoys working with Tuba/Euphonium ensembles. He holds a Bachelors of Music degree with education certification from the University of Texas at Arlington, and plays tuba with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 1995. For fun, He enjoys traveling with his wife and uploads travel tips to Youtube for the Channel “Escaping the Empty Nest."

Mr. Von Kalow grew up in Dallas, TX, where he attended Lake Highlands High School. He is excited to begin his first year of teaching and will serve as the assistant percussion director for the Grapevine Mustang Band.
Mr. Von Kalow received his bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Christian University where he studied with Dr. Brian West, Joey Carter, Jeffery Hodge and Joseph Eckert. During his time at TCU, he was heavily involved in several of the performing ensembles at TCU including the Percussion Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and the Horned Frog-Marching Band, where he served as the drumline captain in 2018. While representing TCU in these ensembles, Mr. Von Kalow received the outstanding soloist award at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Illinois in 2017 and performed twice at the PASIC convention in 2015 and 2019 with the TCU Percussion Orchestra.
While pursuing his degree in music education, he served as a percussion technician and has instructed several drumlines in the DFW metroplex. He completed his final semester at TCU by student teaching at Colleyville Heritage High School and Colleyville Middle School under the instruction of Nick Beaudet, Nick Thomas and Lauren Jones.
